It’s too freaking hot out, y’all! So naturally, I adapted my bomb-pop keychain pattern into a giant version….using blanket yarn. Because there’s no better way to cool off than by having BLANKET YARN all over your lap, lol! Keep reading for all you need to know to whip up one of these cute, quirky pillows for yourself!
Materials:
- Blanket yarn in red, white, blue, & beige (I used Bernat blanket yarn for the red, blue, & beige, and Bernat baby blanket for the white)
- 8mm/L crochet hook
- Polyfil stuffing
- Stitch marker
Pattern:
This pattern is made using continuous rounds, so you will NOT join at the end of each round. Mark the beginning of each round with your stitch marker. As an added bonus, this is a no sew pattern, meaning it can be worked up quickly. Yay for small victories, am I right??
Round 1: Using red, Sc 12 in MR. (12)
Round 2: [Sc, inc] around. (18)
Round 3: [Sc 3, inc] around (24)
Round 5: Working BLO, sc around (30)
Round 6-11: Working in both loops again, sc around (6 rounds) (30)
Round 12: [Sc, inc] around (45)
Round 13: [Sc 8, inc] around (50)
Round 14-23: Sc around, changing to white on the last stitch of the last round (10 rounds) (50)
*Start stuffing and continue as you go.*
Round 24-33: Sc around, changing to blue on the last stitch of the last round (10 rounds) (50)
Round 34-43: Sc around (10 rounds)
*There is no need to stuff the body beyond this point until you make the stick. You want the bottom to be as flat as possible.*
Round 44: Working in the BLO, [sc 8, dec] around (45)
Round 45: Working in both loops again, [sc 7, dec] around (40)
Round 46: Dec around, changing to beige on the last stitch (20)
Round 47: Working in the BLO, sc around (20)
Round 48-54: Sc around (7 rounds) (20)
*Stuff the stick.*
Round 55: Dec around (10)
Fasten off, leaving a tail to close up the hole. Using the tail, weave into the front loops only of the last round and pull the tail tight to close up the hole.
And that’s it! See how quick and easy that worked up? What a great way to add a quick conversation piece to your room during those hot days! ‘Til next time, enjoy!
