Animal Crossing Bag of Bells

May 16, 2020

Hello happy people! I hope everyone is doing well still in these crazy times we’re living in! To be honest, I’m already an introvert so I’m no stranger to staying in. I really don’t mind it at all. That being said, all the weirdness going on out there HAS got me a bit anxious and stressed a bit lately. While I love having the excuse to craft and crochet all the time, I’m finding it more difficult to concentrate on projects and much more difficult to FINISH anything! (Like, seriously, I have about 10 WIPs happening right now, which is creating some yarn havoc in my living room, lol.)

Many, many years ago, (oh boy, I’m going to be dating myself here…) I played a little game on GameCube called Animal Crossing. And it was amazing. A little town, lots of fun characters to interact with, endless items to collect, houses to decorate, and all in REAL TIME. I actually PLANNED many days of my actual life around the in game events. I’m embarrassed to admit how many times I got up in the middle of the night to catch a bug or witness some celestial event. Okay, only a LITTLE embarrassed.

Well, with all this stress and anxiousness around today, I was looking to find something soothing, and I’m happy to say I found in the NEW Animal Crossing: New Horizons on the Switch! I, like so many others, have started living the island life, and just like the last time, I AM OBSESSED. So of course I had to crochet something from the game. Because that’s what I do, I obsess over whatever shiny new thing (or in this case, new OLD thing) I find, and my crochet mind wheel starts spinning, and I start thinking, “What can I make from this? I MUST MAKE SOMETHING!” So that’s what I did!

I’m hoping to eventually find some time to crochet some of the characters from my new favorite game, but to start off, I made a bag of bells! I mean, come on, who couldn’t use more bells? Like always. Forever. More bells. Those house renovations aren’t going to pay for themselves! If you would like to check out my pattern, you can find it here in the Etsy shop! Now if you’ll excuse me, I gotta head back to the island. I gotta go shake some trees and turn in some fossils, lol! Love livin’ that island life!
